Joseph Burke has 30 years of experience in the antique business, including 20 years of buying in and shipping from France.

He owned operated Legend Antiques in Oakland California for over 25 years, specializing in French antiques, supplying decorators, other dealers, and private parties with high quality merchandise.

In 2006, Joseph closed his shop in Oakland and relocated to Paris where he remains active in the trade.

We have spent 20 years buying at the Flea Market in Paris and throughout France. Realizing the power of language, I took an intensive course in French at the Sorbonne in 1998 and became fluent. This deepened the many relationships with French dealers I had formed over the years.

We have ongoing relationships with hundreds of dealers in Paris and the provinces, including Brittany, Normandy, central France, the Rhone valley (Lyon) and Provence.

We are familiar also with the many fairs and salons that take place, both in Paris and throughout France. Over the years we have discovered great places to stay and eat as well.

We have a great packer/shipper in Paris, and work with transporters throughout France, so that what you buy, in whatever quantity, will arrive safely at the final destination.

We offer personal customized tours anywhere you would like to go in France.

A great place to start is the Paris Flea Market (Marche’ Aux Puces) and the Hotel Drouot, Paris’ main auction house.

Starting with 1/2 day guided tours, we can begin to see the breadth and depth of the French antique market place. If you have a particular area of interest, I can tailor our time together to showcase that.

Our shipper will pick up, wrap, crate (if necessary) pack and ship your purchases. All French customs procedures and documentation are included.

Shopping for antiques in Paris,and in France, can be daunting. The Paris Flea Market, or Marche’ Aux Puces, itself covers over 25 hectares, or 60 acres and includes over 2500 dealers in 12 different markets.

In addition, there are hundreds of stand alone shops in Paris, as well as several large collectives.

Also not to be missed is the Hotel Drouot, the main Parisian auction house, with daily sales in 16 rooms.

Outside of Paris, there are centers of activity in Lyon and L’Isle-sur-la Sorgue, to mention a few, as well as many fairs and salons of varying duration.
